A new year begins and I have been thinking about the next few interviews I will be doing for TheInspiredMom. If you have been reading my blog over the last two years you have read the stories of some pretty inspiring women. In addition, each one of you reading probably has an individual in mind who inspires you on a more personal level. And I couldn’t help but think, if I interviewed each and every one of my readers I am sure I would find a story of inspiration. Hence the title: She lives in you. She lives in me; but, I didn’t just come up with these words on my own, let me back up for second….
The second week in December my oldest son and I took a trip to New York to see the sights and celebrate his ninth birthday. It was an amazing opportunity for me to connect with my son. Seeing him for who he is without our normal distractions was eye-opening (to say the least). He has grown from my first baby into a little man with deep feelings and interesting observations. Having time to focus on just one child created an unforgettable trip for both of us. On our last day, we went to see the Lion King playing on Broadway. Towards the end of the performance the song: “He Lives in You” played and I still can’t get that song out of my head. It had such a great meaning to me because I looked to my left to see my son growing up before my eyes. I wondered, do I live in him? What influence am I having on his life? On the plane ride home, I continued to hum the song (starting to annoy my son) and thought about it even more deeply.
The words to song are: “He lives in you, he lives in me. He watches over, everything you see. Into the water, into the truth. In your reflection, he lives in you.” As silly as you think I am, I really got to thinking that in each and every one of us is an inspiring woman. And being inspirational is not always the glamorous stories that I write about. Being inspirational is what you are for your kids every day. The lunches you pack, the play dates you host, the hours you spend helping with homework, school projects and in the classroom. The Inspired Mom is you- every day. Click this link to listen to the song from the Lion King- He Lives In You. Take a minute to look in the mirror. See that woman who is staring back at you? She IS inspiring! As you sing this song throughout the day, take a minute to see how you inspire your kids, your family and your friends. Then look at how those people inspire you. You don’t have to look too far to find inspiration every day. I wish you a wonderful 2011 filled with health and happiness.
